The original premises of Hotel Ellora stood on the site of the Cachar Club, one of the primary British establishments in and around Assam during the nineteenth century. Though that original building no longer exists, the property’s story continues. The business began in the 1950s under the late Birendea Chandra Choudhuri and was led by his son, the late Arup Choudhuri, until 2000. Since then, it has continued under the leadership of Mrs. Swarnali Choudhuri.
